VirusScan 8.7/8.7 Wildcard Exclusion - *:\foldername or ?:\foldername - Valid Or Not?

Jump to solution

Guys,

I've inherited some stuff and currently there are some drive/folder exclusions set up in the following format:

?:\foldername\

*:\foldername\

Are these valid or not? I've never seen or used these and normally I would use the following:

\foldername\

**\foldername\

Thoughts?

Stefan

Got a response from McAfee so I thought I'd post the answer here for future reference.

Although not generally documented anywhere the wildcard when used either as ?:\ or *:\ is a valid use of wildcard and will denote any drive.
