Virus Scanning of uploaded files

Is there a way to validate the virus scanning is working? Is there traceability when a document is uploaded to a server with VSE installed? How can we validate a file was scanned?

Re: Virus Scanning of uploaded files

Hi @aguzman

You download the test virus EICAR from and put it on that server where VSE is installed. If VSE detects it then the scanner is working fine.

Hello @aguzman ,

Adding to @patrakshar , you can also check the article form McAfee  on How to use the EICAR anti-malware test file with McAfee products KB59742

Re: Virus Scanning of uploaded files

Adding to @patrakshar , you will also need to ensure that the file types (extensions) are not being excluded in your policies for the document(s) you are uploading to the server.  Also, ensure you are not excluding files by file age, and not excluding file write operations to ensure the document(s) get scanned.

In fact, the McAfee Profiler tool may be able to assist.  Simply install and start the McAfee Profiler tool on the server hosting the share, upload some test document(s) to the share, then stop McAfee Profiler in order to see what file(s) were scanning while the tool was running.

Hope this helps.
