There were no virus scan filters offered so ran a full scan, now most of my regularly used apps, that have not caused issues in all the years I've used them, will not work.
Short of reinstalling all of them, has anyone any suggestions.

I am not sure what you mean by fileters..
It would be really helpful if you could download the MER tool ( http://mer.mcafee.com ) and run this on the machine. This will create a zip file that we can review to see what the issues are.
