Virus Scan Enterprise 8.50i gets disabled after restart
Everytime I restart the PC the VSE 8.501 icon will say that it is disabled. I have to unlock the Virus Scan console and start the On-Access scanner to return it back to normal. However, when I restart the PC again then it will be back to disabled.
Here is what I have done so far: 1. Checked "Prevent McAfee services to be stopped" 2. I have set the settings under "Common Standard Protection" 3. Set the "McAfee McShield" service to restart on failure.
One thing I noticed is that once the problem begin, the "McAfee McShield" service is Paused, this is why I guess my recovery on failure setting does not work.

check your event logs for Application & System, you will find there is a corruption in one of the modules/DLL's trying to load, which is stopping the service from running. typically the on-access scanner or email plug-in.
if you can quote the error log and event ID, we can usually find a fix for you.
