VSE to ENS on servers

Hi all, I have a question regarding migration from VSE to ENS on Servers.

We have servers with VSE and two ePO. New and Old. On old epo is VSE and the new is with ENS.

Policies has been migrated and reconfigured on new ePO server. And question is, what is best practice how to uninstall vse, install new agent and ENS on windows server 2012-2019?

What do you mean? In my opinion is good way use removal tool without restart parametr. Romeve VSE and Agent and on server cleaned from mcafee install from new epo agent and ENS. Is this a good way?

Thank you.

Re: VSE to ENS on servers

Hi @VitezslavKu

Thanks for posting on the Community.

In general, we have a page which guides you through the migration from VSE to ENS: https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-gb/products/lp/endpoint-security-migration.html

The ideal way is to use our EUA Tool (Endpoint Upgrade Assistant) which will migrate those VSE installed systems to ENS. It can also update the agent at the same time. For more info, see: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB88141

There are however many ways to achieve your goal. Another option is: If you don't want to use this tool for example, you can migrate and upgrade the agents using this method: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB79283 and then you can deploy ENS over VSE, as it will automatically uninstall it.

The removal tool should be your absolute last resort. The tool should not be used unless all other uninstallation methods are failing.
