We are running VSE 8.8 Patch 7 and I asked the ePolicy admin to add 2 exclusions in On-Access Scan Default Processes. He added **\Applicationxyz\ and include sub-folders and also added **\java.exe. I see the new policy has been applied but when I look in the windows server event viewer I see McAfee time out errors while trying to scan a file in **\Applicationxyz\ . That would been that the exclusions aren't working?
The server is running Windows Server 2008 R2
Well when I go to VirusScan Console and click on On-Access Scanner then Task-->Statistics the last file scan is in the excluded folder so I guess that means exclusion aren't working. The excluded folder is E:\ApplicationCompany\ but it was added like this:
This is should work for exclusion? What could cause the exclusion not to work?
That should work - question: Under OA Default Processes Policy <> Processes <> Process Settings - which one has been chosen: Configure one scanning policy for all processes or Configure different scanning policies for high-risk, low-risk, and default processes ?
Since the exclusion is only noted in the Default policy - perhaps the processes that are listed within High or low-risk will be able to access that folder/file location and VSE will act accordingly. For giggles, try adding folder/file exclusion to all three and monitor.
