VSE for storage

we kicked off a scan on one of our netapp servers will over a million files. it seems that the scan stops before getting to all the files. are there any limitations with how many files can be scanned?

right now the max scan time is 60 and the # of anti-virus scan threads is set to 200. the amounts of sessions on the scanning server is 200. should any of this be changed?

Re: VSE for storage

Hi @rbenson09 ,

Thank you for posting on the Community. We apologize for being late in answering you.

There is no limit to the number of files that VSES can scan. We publish VSE for Storage Best Practices and Q&A.

Best practices for configuring the required number of VirusScan Enterprises for Storage scanners

FAQs for VirusScan Enterprise for Storage

> What is the relevance of the VSES scan thread configuration and how does it affect the needed scanner count?
>Depending on your environment, you must plan for VSES to handle the expected load. You determine this load as follows:

>- You have y number of physical filers.
>- You have z number of discrete filer IP addresses that send scan requests.

>For NetApp
>Deploy 2x(y) scanners. Configure each scanner’s NetApp scan thread count for 50*x(z) threads.

Could you change the setting using KB information and see if you can avoid the problem that the scan stops?
If the problem reoccurs, please check if the VSES service has stopped.

Best regards,

Re: VSE for storage

Hi, VSES is an OAS solution only. Do not use your VSES SVM to run ODS against filer shares, as you are likely to impact your OAS scanning.
