On several laptops the daily full scans are canceling themselves without error. These laptops are connected to ePO on a Windows Server 2012 R2 system. Is there some other place to look for an error log to find out why this is happening? Other devices connected to the same ePO server are not having this issue. All the connected laptops and workstations are configured the same.
The local ODS logs will give you an indication of why they are stopping in most cases - you can find these in %Programdata%\Mcafee\DesktopProtection
How are you running these tasks? Are they scheduled same as the other tasks which are running fine? You may have a default stop time in them. Or potentially the setting "scan on idle" enabled, which would stop the task if a user is active.
The full scans are set to run on Saturday and they generally take 7 hours. Some of the stations show the scan starts, runs 20-30 mins, and then cancels. Other stations don't even start, no error messages in the ODS logs. We have one room everything is working. Our VSE is 18.104.22.1682, McaFee Agent is 22.214.171.1242, and ePO is 5. These cannot be changed due to testing that is required before we can deploy them.
For "...stations don't even start, no error messages in the ODS logs..." try re-deploying the agent; force a full policy update. You can also confirm policy scheduled tasks by navigating to through the registry to ...\McAfee\DesktopProtection\Tasks\...."
For the ones that start and cancel; what does the ondemandscanlog have for that time period. Is it scan cancel or terminated? And does it perform the same if you manually start a scan?
Also, what scan engine are you running?
