VSE 8.8 - Microsoft C5 dynamics - Network drive

Hello

We have some customers how have a Microsoft C5 dynamics solution running from a network drive.

After updating the VSE 8.8 to patch 6, the process for Microsoft C5 dynamics (C5w32.exe) doesn't shut down, but puts it in the background process list (In Windows task manager), witch resolve in the PC wont shut down.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Have tried:
- Disabling all scanners
- Running program with admin rights
- remove all custom rules
- running other programs from network drive

Info:

- Client OS - Windows 7 64bit

- C5 dynamics version - 2012 - 4.4.1.303
- VSE 8.8 to patch 6 (8.8.0.1445)

- Scan engine - 5700.7163

Re: VSE 8.8 - Microsoft C5 dynamics - Network drive

Note:
The program terminates perfectly from a local location, so its something related to network.

Hi Tahoo,

Just a shot in the dark:

What is the state of:

VirusScan Console > On-Access Scanner Properties > All Processes > Scan Files:

    On network drives

If Scanning on Network drives is ON, there may be file locks which are not releasing, causing the improper termination.

Turn OFF scanning 'On network drives' and let us know if this helps.

Re: VSE 8.8 - Microsoft C5 dynamics - Network drive

Hi Ron

Many thanks for you reply.
The anti virus is not set to scan on network drives.

The strange thing is that the VSE doesn't write anything in the log, about blocking the file/service :-|

Update: the problem doesn't occur with patch 4.

Interesting!

So, several things changed when updating to Patch 6. SysCore 15.3 was installed which uses the new AAC engine replacing VSE AP.

Check out the Troubleshooting section.

I have not seen any application 'Close' fail and leave the application running in the background, simply because it is running from a network drive.

Could it be an ACL rights issue?

Without more diagnostics info, we are just shooting in the dark.

Perhaps SysInternals Process Explorer or Process Monitor could provide additional insights as to what is happening during the Close Application process. I think ProcMon in particular may provide these details.

Have you opened up a Service Request with McAfee?

Are you using OAS High/Low Risk Processes or just the Default Processes?

Let us know how you are doing.
