I am relativly new to mcafee epo and i want to upgrade from mcafee 8.8 p2 to p4.
I read in the documentation that:
This package does not upgrade VirusScan Enterprise version 184.108.40.2067 (RTW).
To update with the Patch 4 package:
◦ On 64-bit systems, first install Patch 2, then Patch 4.
◦ On 32-bit systems, first install Patch 1, then Patch 4.
Alternatively, uninstall VirusScan Enterprise 8.8.0 and reinstall with the Repost
We have at the moment allot of 32 bit machines and for my understanding i need to roll them back to p1 ? And then patch them to p4.
What is the best way to do this? Any one got a idea?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you are still having the issue, it may be just as easy to run a "UnInstall" and then run a clen Install from the console...
this is accomplished by creating 2 seperate tasks.
1 - VSE 8.8 - Uninstall
2 - VSE 8.8 p4 - Install
Run as follows:
System Wakeup to confirm uninstallation is complete
VSE install on completed systems.
Nope, thats just a typo in the guide. needs to be at least on patch 1 for 32 bit systems and above.
you are ready to go. Just read up on the issues people have had with XP and BOP first!
Well i am currently testing it to send patch 4 to a patch 2 machine. When i use cmdagent i see that the task is coming in but at installed patches (more infor at vse) its still 2.
ePO is modular, so you add additional modules to give it additional features. Adding the agent management extension (or module) enables ePO to see and manage the agent on systems and deploy it.
Generally rule of thumb for upgrades is that the management extension is always upgraded first, otherwise it wont know about the latest version of the software and will have issues controlling it.
Then the help file + reports
Then the software to deploy.
I would say to ALWAYS backup your policies before upgrading the management extension, if it breaks you have to remove (which wipes out all policies for that product) and then check back in.
