Silent install of VirusScan 8.7i and Windows Defender

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am trying to automate the deployment of the VirusScan 8.7i client on Windows 7 Enterprise x64.

My command line syntax is follows: SetupVSE.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL /quiet /norestart

I still get a prompt from the VirusScan Setup asking if I am ok with it disabling Windows Defender before the install begins.  I have no issue with WD being disabled, but I need a flag for the setup to do this without user interaction.

The exact wording of the popup is:

VirusScan Setup

--------------------------

It is recommended that the following product(s) be removed:

Windows Defender

Would you like to do so now?

Thanks,

--Mike

instead of /quiet /norestart, coudl you try /qn

SetupVSE.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVEINCOMPATIBLESOFTWARE=TRUE /qn

OR

SetupVSE.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVEINCOMPATIBLESOFTWARE=TRUE /qbn - this will show progressbar

This will set the license period to one year in case if you have perpetual license

Window 7 wont ask for restart. so no need to use /norestart. if you want to reboot to enable network filter, then use REBOOT=A . if you want to prevent reboot REBOOT=R

Please find excerpts from the documentation.

Hi Mike,

Please use REMOVEINCOMPATIBLESOFTWARE=TRUE

Kindly update if that helped.

Thank you

Hi,

I tried the following syntax:

SetupVSE.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVEINCOMPATIBLESOFTWARE=TRUE /quiet /norestart

There was no difference, I still received the user interactive dialog box.  Please advise.

Thanks

Thanks this worked!  Looks like the syntax we had for 8.5i changed a bit.
