Problems accessing remote virusscan consoles

Hi Folks,

I'm running 8.5 in a corporate environment & when I want to open a remote viruscan console, it says:

Your logon was denied accessby the remote computer "pcname"

Your logon must belong to the administrators group on the remote computer.

Now I know I'm a local admin, but this still fails. Is there a workaround? I want to keep the processes locked down but would like to have this functionality if anyone knows how to get this going. Let me know.

When accessing another computers' VirusScan Enterprise console through a remote console connection, is unable to execute one of the following tasks on the remote computer:

*
On-Demand Scan task
*
Update task.

Attempting to run an On-Demand task on the remote computer via the remote console actually unexpectedly runs the On-Demand scan on the local computer in error.
Attempting to run an AutoUpdate task on the remote computer via the remote console does not run at all and does not have the same unexpected result as the On-Demand scan by running on the local computer.

Using the Update Now option, a connection window pops up and then disappears.

interesting thread....I can't even connect to the remote consoles though..that is the error I get when attempting to connect

Same problem with 8.5. I haven't yet installed patch 3, but with patch 1 and without patches I was never able remotely connect to another VirusScan 8.5. Have tried with user from Domain admins group and with username listed in local Administrators group. No success. I hadn't such problems with Virusscan 7 and 8. Any suggestions what to configure in Virusscan on remote computer to be able connect ?

In response to bburwell, I tested 8.5i Patch 3 on a few systems and this particular problem appears to be resolved.

Are you going from the same version of VSE to the same version as this also locks it out in addition to local admins?

Correct...8.5p3 to 8.5p3..won't let me in.

Try to diasable the access protection feature on the target pc. Then you shoudl be able to connect...

I don't have v8.5 patch 3 installed yet.

Without this patch no matter what you do you can't use an 8.5 to scan another 8.5 system even if you mess with access protection.

I will indeed test patch 3 and see if that fixes the problem.

11. ISSUE:
Interacting with Remote Console On-Demand Scan
and AutoUpdate tasks caused the local tasks with
the same id to be acted upon, instead of the
remote task.

My experience: now I can remotely scan other pcs but I cannot get the autoupdate task to work. I am a domain admin but I cannot get the autoupdate task to work. I don't believe this part is fixed yet.
