Hi all, we have a performance drop issue.
When Outlook 2003 SP3 + VSE8.7i with patch 3&4 + Macroview DMF client 6.7 are installed, and Word is selected as the email editor, it takes about 7 - 10 seconds to new message window to appear. When you disable the Buffer Overflow Protection, it only takes 2-4 seconds.
We've added Outlook.exe in the BOP exclusion, added Outlook.exe in the Low-Risk process exclusion, whitelised the server url (KB65382), and even tried KB50981 but all to no avail......
On a lab machine, we've applied latest update to Outlook 2003, but still the same problem.
No problems with Outlook 2007.
I have been talking to tier 1 support today, after some diagnostics sent the Mer result and waiting to hear from them,
(While investigating, he told me to remove Outlook.exe from High-Risk process protection, and added it to Low-Risk process exclusion.)
Has anybody dealt with Macroview and somehow resolved issue?
I already sow this type of behaviour when there is an incompatibility between outlook and acrobat ready on a workstation.
VirusScan BOF handle this incompatibility as a unexpected behaviour.
Could you please check add-ins in the outlook 2003 and uncheck all of them in order to investigation what is the one which is incapted performances ?
hi vivace270, thanks for you responce.
i've already checked that and there are no add-ins for macroview.
also tried the mcafee KB50981 to identify which processes are causing the issue, it was only word and outlook.
The test result on a laptop with Macroview approved VSTO version and a fully patched version of Office 2003:
Mcafee v8.8 with Outlook/Winword excluded from BOP – 4-6 seconds
Mcafee v8.8 with BOP disabled – 2-3 seconds
Mcafee v8.7.0i with Outlook/Winword excluded from BOP – 6-7 seconds
Mcafee v8.7.0i with no BOP exclusions – 6-9 seconds
Mcafee v8.7.0i with BOP disabled – 2-3 seconds
Mcafee v8.7.0i with access protection and BOP disabled – 1-2 seconds
Mcafee v8.7.0i with access protection disabled - 5-6 seconds
Having BOP and/or access protection disabled makes Outlook with Macroview open much faster during current tests. I have had differing results when changing access protection – sometimes it helps but not always.
Well, problem is that Macroview don't have any add-ins!
Anyway, i've been talking to McAfee support since mid feb and today finally received something could resolve this.
Will try this out tomorrow and update.
