On access scanner registry values.

Hello all,

My company is using VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 - on the VirusScan Console we've noticed that the "On-Access Scanner" is set to "Not Running". Our system specifications demand that the On-Access Scanner be "Disabled".

Looking through the registry Key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\McAfee\SystemCore\VSCore\On Access Scanner\McShield\Configuration" We found a variable named "OASEnabled" which is set to '2'.

My question is what exactly does "Not Running" mean ?

Is it possible that the OAS is actually running when we access files, or is "Not Running" the equivalent of disabled?

Re: On access scanner registry values.

On access scanner status will go in "Not running" mode only when McAfee McShield services is disabled/stopped.

Please check the McShield services: (Start > Run > Services.Msc)
