Multiple VSE icons (VSE8.7 Patch 5)

Hello,

We upgraded VSE8.7 from Patch 4 to Patch 5, and on thousands of machines, we found hundreds of VSE icons in taskbar on most of the machines, can anyone suggest the reason and solution asap. Please see attached snapshot.

Mahi, we had the same issue with over 6000 nodes.  One of the first things you will need to do disable the task for deployment of patch 5.  Download VSE 8.7 repost with service pack 5.  Move the old version to pervious branch, and check in the new package.  You will need to wrok with support, supplying the registry entries for each OS.  Support should supply you with a super dat to correct he registry entry. the super dat can be checked in to ePO and pushed out.   After the changes have been made to the registry you will need to reboot each node.  I know this sounds like a lot of work but it is the best way to correct the issue.  The other option is to download VSE 8.8 with service pack 1 and deploy it.

Hello Mike,

Little query about Super dat, Is it possible to add registry entry in super Dat? If McAfee support can do it and send it to us for check in into ePO, then it is good. But what will be the size of Super DAT? Normaly super dat goes upto 100 MB, and it will be difficult to deploy super DAT on 12,000 computers. Or support can do the same thing with EXTRA.DAT? I don't know.

In this case we we added the registry in a patch deployed through DSM package installation on all clients, and some how we controlled the situation.
