When I had the Norton trial on my emachine D525, my comp worked fine. I was able to play and download games from Iwin.com and Big Fish Games. I was able to download .exe files from download.com, etc.
But ever since I got McAfee VirusScan v8.7i from my university IT store (FIU), McAfee won't let me do anything. I need this Audio Editor software for school but I keep getting errors when downloading and when I try to use Iwin, it blocks it. How can I allow sites and .exe through McAfee? Ever since I put McAfee on my computer, it's limited everything I do!
I'm really going to switch back to Norton. It allowed me to do whatever I needed and didn't block my downloads or creating programs/files. Plus it's disabled my windows defender. It's just not user friendly.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused with the programs, I shall move your thread to the enterprise section where are virus scan 8.7i experts would be helping you soon with the issue.

I am also facing the exact same thing.
Suddenly McAfee is not allowing me to download anything and says "virus scan failed" . This is happening even after i have completely uninstalled this **bleep** software from my laptop.
If you uninstalled the software and are still seeing the messages, then it may be Windows Defender or another vendor doing the AV scan. Do you have a screenshot of the message that you can share so we can confirm?
Thank you for sharing the screenshot. That is a generic error within the browser. Any AV could be stopping this download. I would advise you to check what AV providers you have running i.e. Windows Defender and disable these too.
If the issue persists following the removal of the McAfee products and disabling other AV providers running, feel free to raise a Service Request so we can check that everything is removed however based on other posts on the web regarding this error, there is some suggestion that Microsoft may be causing this error.
