Good day, I have a Win 8 HP Notebook. I installed BlueStacks yesterday (creates contained Android OS to run Android apps in that window).
This morning I have notifications that the McAfee Update did not run.
I tried running it manually and it says "unable to find valid repository"
What can I do to get it updating again please, without removing BlueStacks?
This area is for Community help only, but if you can tell me what McAfee/Intel software this is then I can move it to that section for a faster response.
Hi, I am new to this forum, so not sure where to place request. I put it on the general forum too. Can u help that it only appears where it should be please.
I have McAfee Virusscan Enterprise and AntiSpyware Enterprise on my notebook, preloaded by the university where I work.
BlueStacks is an application I found that was best rated to be able to use Android Apps, on this Windows 8 notebook.
Does this help?
It seems that the OP is running a 'Emulator' application, and it possibly needs to be configured. Since it was mentioned that the McAfee Software being used was 'VSE' , hence I moved it from Consumer. By it also involving Android also, if needed to be moved else where, I will defer to you.
Lets start off by manually getting your DAT updated to keep you protected.
You can manually download the DAT updater files from http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx
If you download the xdat.exe file from the above website and run it locally it will update your local DAT.
Also do you know if your University supplied Laptop is "managed", do you have the "red" McAfee Shield in your system tray?

Sounds very much like Bluestacks sets up its own network connection, which then fools our software as it can't decide which one to use.
I've used VM's many times and have always disabled their own network setup which forces them to use the host OS one....just a thought.
