McAfee VirusScan 8.7i during DAT update caused Windows Security Center Alert

With McAfee VirusScan 8.7i with Patch 2, we have been noticing that the Microsoft Windows Security Center will display an alert "McAfee is turned off". This appears to be occuring only during the DAT update and will stay on the screen for about 30 seconds. This showed up on my workstation yesterday and another persons workstation today. We are currently testing VSE 8.7i to about 15 systems. What concerns me is that users will call the helpdesk when they see this message about McAfee being turned off. This does not happen with VSE 8.5i which is across 1500 systems.

Why is McAfee VSE 8.7i causing these alerts and how to stop them? The event viewer does show a security center event about 30 seconds before the Mclogevent which shows the DAT being updated. Has anyone else seen this issue?

You should give support a call and log a case for escalation. You will be asked to run the MER on your system and then escalation can take place.
