My bad guys. Not the infection within DAT. It is about WannaCry2.0 / WanaCrypt0r 2.0./ WCry Ransomware.
Any inputs on this from McAfee's end. Any recommendations?
Do we have any documents about the earlier variants?
Also consider creating a custom access rule to block *.wcry and *.wncry.
"I see even Russia was targetted" what I find somewhat funny and interesting is that "Shadow Brokers" may be tied to the Russia government - So, either they shot themselves in the foot or smoke/mirrors
To anyone reading this. Make sure your computer operating systems are all totally up to date and you've made backups of important files.
The original wave of the Wannacry ransomware has been thwarted (by Microsoft and by McAfee and other A/V vendors and ISP's) but expect second and third waves of the ransomware.
