Lenovo Access Connections 5.62 - 100% CPU Usage! VSE 8.5i

Hi everyone,

since searching the forum for my problem didn't bring up any results, I decided to write my first post:

I am running multiple Lenovo X200 (7459-Y92) Thinkpads in a company environment (running WinXP SP3, latest Patches) with VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i. Randomly me and my users get problems with Access Connections (5.62). The problem is that this happens randomly and I can't reproduce it.

After booting up the machine the "SvcGUIHlpr.exe" and the "AcSvc.exe" processes will cause 100% CPU load. You then have to kill these processes.

I ran ProcessMonitor to capture events when the problem occurs. It seems like the AcSvc.exe to constantly querying the registry for the same set of keys.

-> This happens like a 100.000 times within ~10secs

By searching around the internet people claimed in "their cases" it was the "on access scan" engine of their respective AV software (eg. Norton or others). Is it possible that this could be caused bei VSE8.5i?

Best regards,

Tim

Not a specific resolution to your problem, but 8.5 gave us all sorts oc CPU spikes with file scans. We went to 8.7 and our machine performance went through the roof. I am actually installing reports for 8.8 and the install as I type this. I would recommend updating your version as I believe 8.5 is EOL.
