Install VirusScan after GroupShield for Exchange

Deal all,

i would like to ask whether is possible and supported to install McAfee VirusScan and GroupShield for Exchange on the same machine.

We have a windows 2003 server (64bit) with Exchange Server 2007. We are planning to install GroupShield for Exchange (Mail Security) and

also want to install another antivirus to protect the O.S.

Regards,

Marios

It's not a problem but you should disable the on-access email scaner on VSE i have the same combination on our server and it is working without any problems.

But remember that you should create exclusions for exchange  and GSE in order to improve the performance you could find articles with list of the neccessary exclusions on :

Remember to create the task scheduler to purge the old GroupShield for exchange if your exchange running on Windows 2008 server. The GS rule cannot do it itself. Otherwise, it will eat up your server disk space. Notes. There is a required GS hotfix to be applied on Windows 2008 server  as well to prevent the old detection log growing with significantly.
