Fake virus signatures ...

Hello,

I'm in a process of testing USB flash drive using command line.

So far it works fine and I did not find any malware on my 'test' thumdrive.

BUT I'd like to do a kind of negative testing to check how it'll work when 'real' virus present on flash drive.

My question: where/how could I get 'fake' virus signature to put on a thumb drive and test that it was detected. Well I definetely don't want to have 'real' malware but kind of fake one.

Could someone advice please ?

Thanks

Re: Fake virus signatures ...

Use the EICAR test file located here: http://www.eicar.org/86-0-Intended-use.html

You can either download the file or put the characters into a text file and test.

Hope this helps!!
