Error 1920. Service McTaskManager failed to start.....

Error 1920. Service McTaskManager failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services.

I get the above error message when installing the enterprise scanner on a users laptop who was running Trend Mico Office Scan (this was removed with no issues).

I am installing it as Admin.

Any ideas

What does the log file created during the attempted install say?

Because it fails with the above, i assumed nothing was installed.

Where would the log file be saved?

I am having similiar problem reinstalling Mcafee av

I am using Mcafee AV 8.5i. My XP got problem and I have problem starting up my AV at startup. I guess I execute a dangerous exe file. I then uninstall Mcafee aV without problem and managed to solve my xp problem by using the xp cd and do a upgrade.
Now I want to reinstall my AV and while installing halfway ... this "1920 blah blah blah error " problem came up and I can't continue and rollback.

Is there a way to reinstall my AV without reinstall my XP sp2 from scratch?

i don't know how to submit my log ... I have 3 logs found in
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\McAfeeLogs
MASInst.log
VSEInst.log
VSEUninst.log

Please advise
TQ

follow up for error 1920

The error message is :
Error 1920.Service McAfee McShield (McShield) failed to start.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Vseinst.log too big.

I tried and paste it with the following error.
The text that you have entered is too long (870436 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long.

How do i attach the log file.

RE: follow up for error 1920

does the log have info on more than one installation attempt? it sounds pretty large considering it failed at the service start function.

you can always search the log for the failure where it doesnt start the service and then paste in the bits before and after this event, or host it somewhere and provide a link, eg skydrive or some where like that.
