Disabling the alerts from cookies in VSE 8.5

Hi,

I want to disable the events from cookie detections being sent to the epo-server. The database is getting filled with these events. I know there is a registrysetting for VirusScan 8.0 that disables this, but how is it done for Virusscan 8.5?

Any ideas?

Regards,

/Mike

RE: Disabling the alerts from cookies in VSE 8.5

It looks like this has been fixed in VirusScan 8.5i Patch 4.

Below is the section from the release notes that mentions this:

3. ISSUE:
The VirusScan On-Demand Scanner has no option to
disable cookie detection alerts in the user
interface or registry.

RESOLUTION:
Alerts for On-Demand Scan cookie detections can
now be disabled by setting the DWORD
"bCookieAlerts" registry entry to 0.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\McAfee\VSCore\Alert Client\VSE

Hopefully this is the same issue that you guys are referring to. This Patch is not yet under my corporate account. It sometimes takes McAfee a couple of weeks to post the Patch after mentioning the release notes.

Maybe when they go to 9.0i they can include all the features and fixes they patched in 8.5i up front instead of waiting for more patches to fix the same problems ...

Hi there

yeah i would also like to know this, having to change a registry setting on every client is unacceptable.
