RE: Could still not write to INI File...

can you try it again and then post the last relevant portions of the McScript.log and CmdAgent.log from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\Common Framework on the relevant pc.
thanks

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

Just got around this.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework

updatehistory.ini

I checked the permissions and set full control to everyone then retried to update and it started working.

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

I have the same issue. Changing the permissions did not resolved the problem. I'm still unable to update McAfee Virusscan.

I am experiencing this problem with McAfee Virusscan 8.7i on a freshly installed Windows Vista Business system.

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

I have the same problem since I upgrade the McAgent Agent to the version 4.0.0.1180.

When I give Full Control on the file "updatehistory.ini", the update of virus definition doesn't work.

Here you can see the log :

Have you got an idea to solve my issue ?

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

Its a NTFS Permissions error I am 99% certain on updatehistory.ini

I believe it is caused by the agent failing to properly relinquish control of the file after an update, and thus locking the file. If anyone is near a workstation where this occurs Im curious if a simple reboot will resolve the issue.

Banjack:
I believe there is an error in your repository, try deleting the contents and re downloading the repository info. If problems continue start a new thread

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

...isn't the permission changes posibly due to the "protect Mcafee files...." access protection policy settings in later versions ?
Highlighted

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

I suppose that may be possible, but I am able to modify that ini file with Acces Protection turned on with prevent modification also enabled.

RE: Could still not write to INI File...

That's interesting - I presume you mean after you have reset the permissions to allow access and after a policy enforcement has been run ?
