Hello, I would like to ask about the compatibility (or lack of) between McAfee Agent 184.108.40.2063 and VSE 8.8 patch 6 (not the hotfix, but the 1445).
A have a machine where VSE 220.127.116.115 was installed along with Agent 18.104.22.168 and it was all working fine. The agent was updated to 22.214.171.1243 and everything was still normal, with DAT and Engine Updates, as well as policies and tasks.
Then, I observed that problems occur when McAfee Agent 126.96.36.1993 is installed prior to VSE (e.g., when a new workstation enters the network, is unmanaged by ePO, and the agent is deployed first so that later the VSE can be installed). What I observed was that DAT and Engines are still updated, but any change in VSE policies is not displayed or enforced on those workstations. Is this because of lack of compatibility between those two versions? If so, was is the best way to solve this? Deploying another Agent version and forcing the installation over the existing version?
Thanks in advance.
from the Release-PDF MA502HF1110392:
if intending to use Patch 7 as the prerequisite, Patch 7 is restricted to installing on MA188.8.131.52 and you mus follow
1, install or upgrade to MA 184.108.40.206
2. install or upgrade to VSE 8.8.0. P7
3. upgrade to MA 220.127.116.113
That is exactly my problem. On some workstations with agent 18.104.22.1683, VSE 22.214.171.1245 was installed. What I'm asking is the most appropriate way to solve this. Deploy agent 126.96.36.199 and force installation or updating to patch 7?
Just install Patch 7.
Patch 7 supports installing to MA 188.8.131.523. It's in the documentation for patch 7.
And if you plan to do that, be sure to review the Known Issues KB article for patch 7 items (as you did for Patch 6 I'm sure).
