Compatibility issue for xdat.exe file

Jump to solution

Hello,

I have to update a set of my PC's by running xdat.exe file.

I downloaded the file (in my case 7613xdat.exe) and tried to execute it on the target system.

Note: I downloaded it from this location

http://download.nai.com/products/licensed/superdat/english/intel/

Most of my system are running Win7 and a few WinXP.

On a system with Win7 64 bit I executed the file from command line:

7613xdat.exe /F /silent

**

But got error message:

This version of ....\7613xdat.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

**

Could you please advice what is wrong?

P.S. I noticed that if I just directly download 7613xdat.exe from

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx

it works fine but when download from

http://download.nai.com/products/licensed/superdat/english/intel/ it gives this compatibility issue. Looks that files are different ...

Could you please advise for URL for correct file i.e. where I could download from?  I mean that  site http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx does not allow me to use a script for download while  site http://download.nai.com/products/licensed/superdat/english/intel/ allows me to download but the file obviously is wrong. One site is index for download but another one is not

Thanks in advance for help.

FYI: I figured out the problem and fixed it.

The problem was that in python script when I opened file for download I used open('w') while it should be open('wb') i.e. using in binary mode.

Thanks for all your advices

Actually what I am looking is called "DAT package Installer" or 'XDAT file'

Does somebody know where I could download it from?

I am planning to use a script to do it.

Thanks in advance

Note:

the the one I tried before from this location did not work: Index of /140410/products/licensed/superdat/english/intel

McAfee, Inc. - Downloads - Virus Protection - DAT Files - those are only for machines running VSE/ePO - are your machines running the consumer versions of McAfee software?   If so they can't be updated in that manner.

Also They would have to be running Windows 7 SP1 and XP SP3.

- Folks ,

thanks for trying help me.

All my systems are Win7 or WinXP SP3.

All have VirusScan Enterprise ver. 8.7 i hence I'm using VSE

I already tried on one machine to run xdat.exe and it works OK. I have to run it from command line: nnnnxdat.exe /F /silent and it did the job.

My problem is to find the location where I could download that package:

if I download from http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx file is OK

If I download from http://download.nai.com/products/licensed/superdat/english/intel/ file is not good for usage. I don't know what that file is ... it has the same name as the previous one but it does not work.

Hence my question is: I can't use my script to download file from http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx and my request is: could someone point me to the site where I could download , that site should have index for download
