Cannot install latest version of VirusScan

We have some servers where an old version of VSE 1528 is installed. VirusScan does not take any dat update and it does not reflect as installed on ePO. Trying to install new version from epo does not work. Running locally the setup does not work. One of the server we uninstalled the VSE and no error was shown but it looks that McAfee service controller still running. We downloaded the Endpoint product removal tool and observed that McAfee is undetected but on the logs it shows also that : McAfee VSE has sysCore references We think it still blocks new installations

Re: Cannot install latest version of VirusScan

Hello @User36080037

I would recommend you to please open a Service Request with support Team.

Also you can check the EPR log and VSE uninstall logs.

I hope you are sending the Product Update task and that is getting failed.

If it is a product update task and failing please check mcscript.log and masvc.log.

Apart from that please reboot the machine and check once more.

Do refer the KB51111.

Re: Cannot install latest version of VirusScan

Hi @User36080037

Thanks for reaching out to community.

If install fails locally or from ePO, there may be multiple factors.

Can you provide us with install failure logs so that we can check on the failures and see what best we can do from our end.

Re: Cannot install latest version of VirusScan

The best way to execute the Endpoint product removal tool is in the safe mode with networking,  this way the number of processes running will be less, and in most cases, the EPR tool works like charm in safe mode with networking and then reboot and try to install the VSE and check if it succeeds.
