Buffer overrun protection crashing Windows Media Player.

Hi guys, I searched this forum and can't find much mention of media player having issues, but I am currently rolling out Viruscan 8.0i to around 600 machines, in my test group 1 user gets Windows Media player (version 9) crashing when buffer overrun protection is enabled. Have run patch 10 as well, still occuring.

The error is "The instruction at (address) referenced memory at (address) the memory could not be "read" Click OK to terminate the program.

Just wondering if this is a known problem with a workaround or if it's likely to show a lot if I roll this out to everyone (test group is roughly 10, I have it on 1 machine)

RE: Buffer overrun protection crashing Windows Media Player.

Ok the user found the solution, I may as well post it here in case anyone runs into it, basically he is running software called "DVD Region Free" which stays in memory, whenever you put a DVD in the drive it activates and causes the dvd region to be ignored. Unload that and Media player is fine. Weird.

can i know how you detemined that DVD region free is causing that problem
