We are currently in the middle of a ePO project that will enable us to centrally manage all of our servers currently running 1.6 and 1.7. Problem is, there are a number of different support groups managing the different servers, and therefore many standalone configurations relating to exclusions and general options. We can grab information from each of the teams to ensure that the exclusions are there, however I would prefer to go down the path as follows (due to the number of servers out there, and the fact that we need a proper rollback plan!).
- Configure relevant exclusions in ePO (if information available)
- Take local backup of standalone policy on each server (is this possible? And if so, how do you do it? I cant see any documentation related to this)
- Install agent on target servers (at this stage ePO will take over management of VSEL policy)
- If issues encountered, and troubleshooting does not help, uninstall agent and restore local standalone policy from backup
Is this possible? Due to the sheer number of target servers out there, there is always the chance that something can go wrong, and strict change control procedures dictate that there needs to be a reasonable rollback plan!
