Covering additional browsers

Jump to solution

I have Total Protection -- One Device.

If I add additional browsers to my computer (Firefox, Chrome, etc.), does my McAfee Total Protection cover those as well, or do I have to add anything to my coverage?  Thank you.

Yes it does I am using it in Firefox and IE. Chrome works as well..

ie from the FAQs

"McAfee WebAdvisor, cannot run on Microsoft Edge. This limitation is because of the Microsoft Edge restrictions on running any browser add-ons.

Microsoft might allow browser add-on functionality for Edge in the future. But for now, use one of the following browsers with McAfee WebAdvisor on Windows 10:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Google Chrome"

@mrshvd3 @Peacekeeper

hello,

last year i had the same question if WA would be available for Edge browser.since it does not install by default when McAfee is installed.

when the Edge browser was released it was not possible/allowed to install addons for this browser by design from Microsoft.

in the meantime there are different addons available in the Microsoft Store and you can  install WebAdvisor from there for Edge browser.

to do so i received the following answer from Siddhartha at that time.

  1. In Edge, click on the ellipses (3 dots) at the top right corner, and then choose Extensions from the drop-down list
  2. Click Get extensions from the Store
  3. Type McAfee in the Search box at the top right
  4. Because McAfee WebAdvisor may not show in the short list that is displayed, either click on the Search magnifying glass, or hit your Enter key
  5. Click on McAfee WebAdvisor when it displays, typically in the first row of items
  6. Click on Get.
  7. The extension will download and install on Edge.
  8. Click Launch
  9. In the notification that you have a new extension, click Turn it on to enable the new McAfee WebAdvisor extension.

hope this was helpfull
