I believe you have to Delete the Old restore Points too.

It shouldn't be deleted as you might need it in case these type of problems ocurred.

If you delete the old restore points then there will be no point of going back to the earlier configuration. So please do not delete the restore points and try to scan your full system

If a System Restore successfully restored a computer to a malware-free state then yes, you should most definitely disable System Restore temporarily to get rid of the infected restore point.
