Security Sphere 2012 virus. Help?!?

Jump to solution

Hi,

I think I made a big mistake, long story short; I went to this site where you can watch movies online. It said that I need to install Flash Player version 10 in order to watch my movie, so I did. It looked like a real thing, I'm telling you. Anyway, nothing happened so I went to other site and found it there. Now, my computer is acting funny. First of all, I got this strange girly looking anti virus thing called Security Sphere. Here's what it looks like: http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-remove-security-sphere-2012.html It's probably the first pink software I've ever seen. I knew it was fake right away. By the way, It hides in application data folder. I removed it manually but after a couple of hours this damn thing showed up again. McaAfee says my PC is clean but it isn't. So, what should I do? I've already ran Malwarebytes. It's annoying as hell. Help??!

Thank you Ex_Brit! I think the virus has gone on its own. I've ran Malwarebytes once again and it says my PC is clean. No more annoying pop-ups. Yeahh! Just one more question... why McAfee didn't detect this virus?

Download and run the Fake-Alert Stinger here http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/fake-alert-stinger.aspx

If that's unsuccessful then try the removal guide here:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-sphere-2012

Ignore the first links you see as they are ads that supoport their website and scroll down to read all of it.

There are many things that antivirus applications alone can't deal with.  That's why it's a good idea to keep extra software such as MBAM around and updated, just in case.  McAfee has tools as well and they are mentioned along with a few 3rd party ones here:  https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-2168
