Re: FBI MoneyPak Scam - Removing Virus

Thank you to everyone that replied I also tried to do the sys restore it didnt work and when the page first came up with my webcam on I got scared then said fbi doesnt deal with money paks so I think I mught have screwed it up worse by shutting my computer off 3-5 times long enough to get the guest user acct up and then deleted mu main user and all the files in it. Cuz my av kept popping up every 5 minutes sayong it was infected with 3-4 diff viruses trojans mostly and that there was 1 that couldnt b cleaned or taken off cuz it had effected my regfile and had replaced the windows file with the malicious one. And it gave me instructions on how to replace the file with a good one  None of it which I understood what it was talking about. So for 4 days I kept telling it to clean it but the trojans were bk every 5 minutes. And  I went and bought mcafees last night it said it got them all but i am still concerned that it the malicious file migfht still be ib there cuz mcafee said my firewall was off (and i am dumb but  nit stupid and would never have turned that off) And It wont let me turn it back on my computer seems to be fine but Idk what that virus is capable of and i dont want anyone to have to go thru this we pay alot of money for our computers so how do I know if its gone and why wont my firewall turn bk on to reccomended settings?????????? Praying that this has happened to someone else and Im not a complete idiot lol

I'd love to know how you could delete the main user from within the Guest account as it has no authority at all.  Perhaps it was a guest account you had created at some time with Admin authority?  The actual Guest account in Windows systems is disabled for a reason as it is basically useless and rather unsafe to use anyway.  Anyway, that's beside the point.

Your best bet now is to run Hijackthis and post its log on one of the forums mentioned in the lower part of that last link in my signature below.   They will advise you how you are doing.

I know what you mean.   It wasn't so long ago I didn't know one end of a computer from the other.

The Hijackthis suggestion should help you with any problems.

Hijackthis wont find problems.  It merely creates a record for others to analyze.  That's why I suggested it and that you post its log on one of the specialist forums linked in that document.
