McAfee Detects our app as threat

Hello, as part of ShipHero I'm the main developer of a Desktop client app which prints shipping labels, it mainly consist of an Electron App with some native modules for detecting printers and USB devices. With our latest update, some customers had been reporting that is been detected by the antivirus as (ATP/Suspect!6c23cdc03ef9).

The best way to deal with this sort of issue is to raise a service request with McAfee, because this could certainly be a false positive detection. McAfee could suggest you tuning your policies or provide you with a negative DAT based on the configuration and the policies in place.

I hope your issue is resolved soon.

Thanks, so basically we're not users of McAfee but a customers who uses our app is, I'll forward him this information so he can take actions, thanks!

You could also make sure BEFORE each release from your SIDE that it's fireproof. By submitting your current BInary to www.virustotal.com or some Public Sandbox Scanners you have 50% of the work. Those Portals often Exchange MD5 Cheskum with other Partners (Brands/Security) who are member of the Security Alliance.

I personaly would do that for a software i produce or release on 2019. As soon as you run into a real change Managment or Security sensitive client there is a bad taste in 2019 if you don't.

 

Somtimes i'ts just a class or library or Framwork coder include and are not EVEN used in the code itself. Helps to slim out releases too 😉
