Can a DXL client be disconnected via policy

Jump to solution

Hello,

With the introduction of McAfee Agent 5.6 and the fact that the DXL client is now integrated with the agent, we are facing the following issue:

Currently we use MA 5.5.1 and DXL+TIE. However the DXL client is not installed on all systems as we are interested only about the files from particular groups/systems. This way although we have TP+ATP on all devices, our TIE server is populated only with information from the systems we are interested in. I know it is not a standard setup, but it is what we need.

Now with the DXL client being integrated with the MA, how can we disable the DXL client on systems we are not interested in? I went through the policies, but I couldn't find a way to do this. Could you advise if there is a way to stop particular systems/groups DXL clients from connecting to the brokers/TIE?

Thank you in advance!

I found a solution to the problem. Apparently there is an official article explaining how to do this, which I was not able to find before. I just tested it and it works: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB91155

I would leave it.  Agent wakeups will go over DXL, which is much faster and more reliable.

The communications might be faster, but the TIE reputation section will be filled with files from the systems we don't have and don't want DXL on. Is there a way to avoid this?
