Your Computer is not Protected

I keep getting a "your computer is not protected" on my Mcafee icon, so I checked to see what the problem is and it is because my subscription to Mcafee backup and restore must be verified. I verified it and got a message saying it was succesful, but it still says I'm not protected. I click on the fix button and it says 1 or more things need to be addressed.

So...I'm stuck in this unprotected status loop.

hi

Aside from the message that says "McAfee back up and restore must be verified", are you seeing other messages on the right pane of your McAfee Security Center? Are you running windows xp or windows vista?

Sorry to butt in... please run the mcafee virtual technician in my signature and post the session ID...

are you, by any chance, a comcast subscriber?

RE: Moreover

hi,

try a complete uninstall/reinstall of the software:

- run MCPR
- search for all McAfee files/folders in your computer and delete them
- reinstall your McAfee products from your account in http://us.mcafee.com

RE: Moreover

Session ID showed that some products in your mcafee are not properly registered... i think EARTHDRAGUNZ' suggestion is the best solution for your issue... uninstallation and reinstallation of the mcafee product will properly register your mcafee software... happy

hi,

when you ran MVT was your mcafee on a not protected state?

i checked the result and the dat file was fixed including some scripts for your browser...

please run IEREGFIX.bat... afterwhich manually update mcafee by clicking on the update button in the mcafee security page...

hope this helps...

Yes, the DAT file was fixed successfully. But the issue is still happening.

Can you provide more info on IEREGFIX.bat? I am running FireFox.

IEREGFIX.bat

it's a batch file that tries to fix issues with your internet explorer browser.

although you are using firefox mcafee still uses IE as it's platform...

i would strongly recommend that you run the file to patch your IE6...

try clicking here for more information...
