I looked in my windows vista security center to check to see if my mcafee firewall and mcafee antivirus plus were running but instead, mcafee antivirus had been renamed or changed to something called "SELECT* FROM WIN32 OPERATING SYSTEMS". And my mcafee firewall has been renamed or changed to something called "vso, mpfp, msad, mqs" How did that happen? Is my pc infected?
There should be no change in the name except perhaps McAfee VirusScan being called McAfee Antivirus but if you get your protection from your ISP or computer maker, for instance, often they are 're-badged' by them, but you would have top ask them about that.
Is your McAfee taskbar icon square or shield-shaped and are you sure that it's the home products we are discussing here?

It happened again. Today I looked in my windows vista security center to check to see if my mcafee firewall and mcafee antivirus plus were running but instead, mcafee antivirus has been renamed to something called "0". And my mcafee firewall has been renamed "vso, mpfp, msad, mqs" Why does mcafee keep renaming it's self? Other problems with my computer have been: constant server not found errors, very slow speed, and firefox has been freezing up quite a bit.
Is your machine operating on a different language than the McAfee software? Also this is Vista SP2 I trust? Just a thought.
Another one is possible infection. Try the recommendations HERE, and if that doesn't find anything, download the free version of THIS software and update it, then run it and let it remove anything it finds.
