VirusScan can't update-not protected in security center

A couple of days ago, the automatic virus scan which updated daily stopped working and said it couldn't update. Now security center says I am not protected and asks me to reinstall VirusScan. I tried to troubleshoot and also read some of the forums here. I tried to boot in Safe Mode and delete the contents of the DAT file, then rebooted, but that still hasn't worked. My subscription is valid untill 12/30/09, so nothing wrong there. Help?
-----------------Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum. I wasn't sure if this goes here or the actual VirusScan, but the most similar thread was here so I thought I'd follow suit.
