Having brought 5 licences I am now totally frustrated that that on one of my computers it is in Spanish and McAfee "on line help" claim it can not be changed unless I purchase an English version of Vista 64 bit (more money!). Now living in Spain and I am sure like many people, I'm living in a country that is not my first language. I can cope with alot of the local language, but when dealing in security and virus problems I must fully understand the situation so I do not press the wrong button by mistake!
Does anyone know how to get around this as Mcafee do NOT tell you of this problem when you purchase and download. Note with interest that Norten say they have a solution for their system. Come on McAfee if I can load Windows Office in my own language surely you can sort this one out.
That's very strange as many people load the software in other languages using that method. You account is valid on any country's servers.
Try the online chat with Customer Service in the UK again and tell them what I said. If they stick to that then try the online chat for Technical Support.
Meanwhile I will flag this internally and see if one of the McAfee people has an answer.
I'm trying to find out why this is happening as hitherto it has always been possible to install whatever language interface one desires. But the concensus is that the newest installer reads the installed computer language and loads the appropriate version automatically.
I will make this a subject for our conference call with McAfee next Monday.
Is your operating system the variety that can install language packs? The way to check is ask Windows Update to look for all updates, not just security ones and they are offered as optional updates, or if previously offered may be in the hidden updates section..
The management on our conference call weren't sure if one could fool it into thinking it was an English machine by installing the English language pack, then enabling it and rebooting to make sure.
