Brand new Windows 7 64bit computer, came with McAfee preloaded.
Followed instructions at http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100887 to unblock TCP port 3389. Now I see it in the list and it appears to have been done correctly, but I cannot connect. When I turn McAfee's firewall off, I connect no problem so I know it's McAfee. It seems like it's not opening the port.
I frequently need to access this computer via remote desktop and don't really want to leave the firewall off. Any suggestions?
I have the identical problem, which I discovered today after installing Cox McAfee Security Suite. My Windows 7 Professional remote desktop does not work for incoming remote desktop connections even after opening port 3389 in the McAfee firewall. As described by "katt", when I turn the McAfee firewall off, I connect with no problem.
Still does not work after enabling both port 135 and port 3389 as instructed. Works fine when the McAfee Firewall is disabled.
I also added the program mstsc.exe (Remote Desktop Connection) to the McAfee Firewall Program Permissions. Still does not allow Remote Desktop through the Firewall.
McAfee Technical Support just SOLVED the problem. After doing a "Restore Defaults" on the Firewall, they enabled both ports 135 and 3389 using the pre-existing firewall rules. THEN they created a new rule that also enabled port 3390. That did the trick. I have no idea why, since I'm initiating the Remote Desktop session by accessing "Computer" <IP address>:3389. But, I'm happy that adding port 3390 as well did the trick. Thanks Support!
It worked for mysql remote connection in windows 10 when i added mysql port 3306.
thanks a lot it worked for me.
