Every now and then my McAfee Security System pops up and tells me that my computer may be at risk and that my security system needs attention. Turns out it's the Real-Time Scanning which keeps turning itself off. When I turn it on everything is fine, for a while. I've recently had Windows XP re-installed because of this issue but it seems that has had no effect. Can someone help, I'm no expert.
You could access the McAfee virtual technician from here : http://mvt.mcafee.com and make sure that you post you session id back here.
Also, let us know some of the details of your computer ;
What is the operating system installed ?
Do you have any other security software installed ?
Did you perform any recent changes to your computer like a system restore ?

Hi - I just got a McAfee anti virus program because it appears that I have been infected by this so called Mac Protector. I keep getting pop up web sites and advertisements. Not sure how to go at this thing. Anyone familiar with this.
You mean this?
Mcafee should detect it have you updated mcafee?
If above fails try
I am not a mac product user so guessing so try above and get back to us if still an issue
No McAfee didn't detect it and I know it was updated because I had just purchased the service. As a matter of fact both of their logos sat next to each other on my tool bar. I did however get to bleepingcomputer.com and work thru their solution and it appears to have worked. The logo is gone and no more pop-ups. I thought that the Mac was pretty resistant to to these type of virus attacks but now that something like this has happened I hope that Mcafee is up to the challenge of keeping me safe.
Thanks for the assistance - Bob
