Issues connecting to corporate network


A user on our network has recently installed the latest version of McAfee AntiVirus Plus on their laptop. Since then the user has intermittent issues connecting to both the wireless and ethernet network in our building.

Occassionally the laptop will take up to ~2 minutes to connect to the network but still won't connect to the internet. Windows reports the issue as not being able to contact the gateway. To fix the issue, the user simply runs the Windows troubleshooter, which then resets the adapter (wireless or LAN, whichever they are using). The user is then able to access the internet.

This is only a minor issue however as you can imagine, it is a frustrating one. As far as I can tell, the network has been added as a trusted network within McAfee firewall.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a solution?

It would be best that the user contacts Mcafee support. Between them and your experience of your network a solution should be found. It sounds a bit like a dns or gateway issue. What does reseting the adapter actually change on the laptop?
