Hi, I have the following installed that I get free from my ISP O2 with free lifetime updates.
MacAfee Security Centre: Version 9.15 Build: 9.15.160
VirusScan: Version: 13.15 Build: 13.15.113
Personal Firewall: Version: 10.15 Build: 10.15.106
SiteAdvisor: Version: 3.0 Build: 220.127.116.11
Anti-Spam: Version: 10.15 Build: 10.15.106
Parental Controls: Version: 11.15 Build: 11.15.102
EasyNetwork: Version: 3.15 Build: 3.15.100
Backup and Restore: Version: 3.15 Build: 3.15.100
Windows System : Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 6.00.6002 (Service Pack 2)
Platform Compliance : x64
I want to know how to disable the entire suite completely, ive tried everything, I went into security centre and turned off/disabled everything in the configuration, ive even ran services.msc from the run command in vista and stopped each MacAfee service manually ive done all this in both normal mode and safe mode but it just doesn’t disable it completely.
I just need to turn everything off for a few minutes, I have a rar file on my pc I need to extract (I know the file is not a virus MacAfee is just reporting it as one) *it’s a false positive I know that for a fact* but I cant extract it because macafee keeps deleting it all the time even tho I disable everything, but obviously there must be something still running.
I really hope this can be disabled temporarily, because I feel if I uninstall Security Center completely I will have no choice to switch to some other security as this happens quite a lot with me which is very annoying.
Hope someone has a solution to my problem, will look forward to hearing your ideas.

Mcafee products would be completely disabled in safe mode. Boot the computer in safe mode and if you open security center, you could find that all sections would be disabled in the security center User interface.
Apart from this if your file is been quarantined as a false positive , you could submit the file to McAfee labs by which they would be sending you a extra DAT, please follow the steps to submit the files.
As i mentioned in my first post safe mode does not disable macafee completely it still leaves something running, and ive just tried submitting the file through security centre and its telling me the file is to large and cannot be sent to macafee. And if i try and restore it, macafee just deletes it again straight away. and then says cannot be restored.

Sure,You could try uploading the file to Webimmune or sending a email to avertlabs as instructed in my previous post, and they would be responding to you. Hope this would help you to proceed further with your file.
To stop it deleting the file simply do 2 things. Turn off VirusScan and uncheck the Active Protection option.
Double-click the taskbar icon to open SecurityCenter
Click Advanced Menu (bottom)
Click Configure (left)
Click Computer & Files (top left)
You can disable VirusScan and tell it for how long over at the right.
If you click the Advanced button at the right you can then go to Active Protection on the left and uncheck it. Don't forget to click Apply and OK.
(If the detection was labelled "Artemis" then doing this alone will stop the detection, but note it reduces security).
You can then go to the Restore tab/Files and restore the item.
That should stop all detections until you tell it otherwise and enable you to forward the file to McAfee for checking.
Here are some guidelines regarding false detections: http://community.mcafee.com/message/6645#6645Message was edited by: Ex_Brit on 21/01/10 7:47:57 EST AM
