Greetings from a new and lost member. Will you help me anyway? 1st Post

Jump to solution

I bought a Dell XPS bundled with the McAfee Security center 9.15 with the P.C.  I used Windows XP for 8 years. Now, not finding the search feature on Windows 7, or any clue as to where McAfee stores the logs and reports, I find I need to ask the help and learn and share what I have learned with this forum.

I am not in good health. So if it takes a few days to reply to a response, PLEASE!!! understand!

Where and how & where do I delete old logs and reports with this application PLEASE!

Dragon12,

Windows 7 is quite a departure for someone used to XP.  I know I have XP, Vista and Windows 7 on various rigs.

The logs & reports are automatically purged by the system at 30 days and apart from those accessible in the SecurityCenter itself, are not readable by normal means.

If the McAfee Technicians ever need them they send you a special tool to extract them for submission.

Vista/Windows 7 Search takes a bit of getting used to.

Click the Orb at bottom left and you'll see a Search box immediately above - type anything in there and any answers will appear in a large box above.

Click "See more results" for more choices.

You can alter Search's behaviour by right-clicking the Orb and going to Properties then Customize the Start Menu.

The logs are stored in C:\ProgramData\McAfee\MCLOGS  (change C: to whatever your drive letter is if applicable)

There's a good Tutorial HERE at the SevenForums where one can get some excellent Windows 7 help.
