I have just resubscribed to Mcafee and I have picked up a virus on my laptop called Generic.dx!tdh
Mcafee scans and finds the virus and says 'rescan following reboot'. It does not allow you to check the box and delete/quaranteen the file.
When I reboot I scan again using mcafee and its gives the same comment.
In the meantime more infections come in the internet slows, ads are coming up in pop ups and its a nuiscance.
Does anyone know how to remove this, or why Mcafee doesn't facilitate removal or quaranteen?
When you have completed the above recommendations in the link you could also try running http://www.malwarebytes.org and http://www.superantispyware.com both of these programs are free and catches a lot of stuff. I suggest you download these programs to a usb stick and rename the download file and installation folder to something you can easily remember as malware is written to self protect itself. Renaming these should not pose a threat and hence you should be able to get them installed on your computer. Make sure you check for the latest updates and run the program and let it clean everything it finds and then reboot and do the same procedure for the other program.
Let us know how this works for you.
