Hi TOSK,

Try this--Click on "Computer and Files" you'll see "Ignore" option on the right hand box..click "Ignore".

If the problem persists then uninstall,re-install.

Hey, Well, I don't see an ignore box in Comp/files unless its some where in the advanced settings.

Re: Detection Signature file between 8 and 29 days BUT....

Check your system clock for accuracy, both time and timezone-wise.

Try running McAfee Virtual Technican to see if it will fix the issue.

Or...

If Security Center still says The  detection signature file is between 8 and 29 days old and has a  yellow Protection Status, continue to the instructions below:
  1. Browse to C:\Program  Files\McAfee\VirusScan.
  2. Right-click the DAT folder  and select Rename.
  3. Change the folder name to DATold.
  4. If you receive an access denied message:
    1. Open Task Manager (press  CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE).
    2. Right-Click mcshield.exe,  and select End Process.
    3. Rename the DAT folder to  DATold.
  1. In SecurityCenter, click Fix again.
  2. Restart your computer.

A new virus definition file will be  downloaded to your system. This is a large file, and may take some time  to download. After the new definition file is downloaded, (when the  spinning icon disappears) the Protection Status will go back to green.

Re: Detection Signature file between 8 and 29 days BUT....

OK, so yesterday it wouldn’t load a new file. Tried several times including re-booting and Synchronizing time with time.windows.com. Didn’t work.

Booted back their today and it updated correctly.

Thanks. Go figure.

Thanks for the “force a new detection file” scenario, I’ll save that.

It was probably just doing it to annoy you (and me)...!   Glad it's fixed, whatever it was.
