I had to upgrade the Vista OS system to service pack 2. Either when I did that or during the process of troubleshooting my issue with Microsoft I stopped getting automatic updates from McAfee. See the attached file for the error message. My best guess that there is a firewall issue somewhere that's not allowing the updates and I'm not sure where to look if that is indeed the case. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please try to run MVT from here http://mvt.mcafee.com and let us know the reports and your session id . Also, let us know some of the below information ;
Do you have any other security software installed ?
What is the version of McAfee Virus scan :
DAT version :
Do you have any other security software installed on the PC ?
I ran the MVT and have attached the results.
Other security software that I have on the computer is 'Spywarestop.com'.
McAfee Virus Scan is version 15.0
DAT version is 6449. The report states that it is expecting 6508.
Additional security software is the basic Microsoft Windows Defender.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the feedback. I followed the instructions and here's a summary of the results:
For step 1I was unable to delete 'offline' specific content (didn't see that specific option). I followed what I do at the end of every internet session by deleting all temporary internet files.
For step 2 the internet explorer default was already set to the browser. I went to restore the defaults but didn't see that exact option. Instead I chose the "restore advanced settings'.
For step 3 the privacy option was already set at medium. There was no specific 'edit' option, instead I selected 'selected sites' and entered the Mcafee site and allowed it.
Doing all this still did not resolve the problem. It is still not able to update the software. I am currently downloading the 6514 DAT update to get me by, however I'm on dial up and I've seen icebergs move faster so this isn't a good long term way to get around this. Any further insight you can provide would be appreciated.
I would try the following .bat executable file:
After rebooting, see the Status and try to Manual Update, via right click on the systray M icon.
If above link doesnt work, access here: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100492 and download it from there by right clicking and "Save As.."
Please comment us the results.

This file (couldn't get first link to work) appears to apply to windows 2000 and XP. I'm running Vista. Am I correct to assume that if I were to run the file that it wouldn't impact my system?
Running MVT checks for outdated DATs and tries to resolve the issue , where as I suspect there is something else that is obstructing the updates to occurs , might be the internet connections, or a remnant of your previous security software . Please click on Useful Links at the top of this page and click on Technical support so as our technicians could help you out with this issue .
