Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, or indeed if I'm posting in the wrong place, but I have clicked on all the thread titles that looked likely to refer to this problem and none seem to!
I can't seem to download Internet Security Suite avec SiteAdvisor™ 2009 that I just bought from the French version of the McAfee site because when I try to, this message pops up in the download window: "DMSetup.exe. This download has been blocked by your Security Zone Policy - mcafee.com." The same message appears if I try to download the programme on technical support. I'm using Mozilla Firefox browser. According to the instructions, I ought to be able to double click on the download to reassure the computer that I want it and it's safe, but double clicking doesn't seem to do anything and right clicking only gives me the options of removing the download from the list, selecting everything or copying the download link.
Apologies if this is an obvious question but I can't work out what settings I have that are blocking the download! I'm in France so don't really want to have to ring someone to sort out the problem, but equally I've bought the update so would really appreciate being able to use it.
Even if you don't use Internet Explorer, McAfee relies on it heavily, so make sure of the following:
If you are running Internet Explorer 7 go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and click the Reset button. OK and exit, close and reopen IE7. You will have to-enable all the browser add-ons.
If Internet Explorer 6 - go to Tools/Internet Options.. General tab: clear cookies, history and temporary files Security tab: set all zones to default Content tab: disable Content Advisor Advanced tab: set to default. OK and exit.
Before installing the new version you may wish to clean out the old. Enable Windows Firewall temporarily. Then do the following: 1. Uninstall all McAfee programs through "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel".
3. Launch Windows Explorer and delete all McAfee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\<user>\Application Data" and "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data". You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the McAfee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. Can be more than one! In Vista: C:\Program Files, C:\ProgramData and C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming
4. Reboot and redownload/reinstall your McAfee products directly from your account at the McAfee web site.
Thank you very much for the quick reply! I've been having a few problems with IE lately (msn isn't working on there!), which is why I've been using Firefox, so I'll go open that and try what you've suggested.
Ah don't worry about it, it's nothing serious. Mainly just hotmail not loading, and it's been quite slow, which isn't exactly life threatening! Thank you very much for the help- it's now downloading quite happily from IE. happy
