SIEM 11.x with or without DSB

hello All,

According to official documentation

Mcafee 11.3 can run with or without data streaming bus.

Does anyone have some summary paper of what are pros and cons choosing to use DSB?

What functionalities will be missing if we choose not to use DSB ?

How choosing or not choosing DSB will affect firewall ports opening to bulid the enviroment ?

What are preffered ways to upgrade from 10.4 to 11.3 . Is it possible to upgrade form 10.4. to 11.3 without DSB , and enable it later on ?

thank You in advance for support

Re: SIEM 11.x with or without DSB

Currently you only need a DSB if you are planning a hierarchical/distributed ESM architecture or if you want to publish raw events to the databus to be consumed by a third-party solution.   The DSB only comes in a VM and is only a single device.

Whether or not you have the DSB has minimal differences in the firewall ports.   The ports that have been identified are still required to be open, but with a DSB the source and destinations may be a little different.

You can upgrade to 11.3 without a DSB and add it at a later time if desired.
